These are merely best estimates of the R values based on the data.We are working on releasing estimates for post-reopening R values, although it may take several weeks to have the necessary data to compute those values. This does not necessary reflect the current R value in May, although it is a close estimate for regions that have not yet reopened. For the US, this is around mid to late March. Post-mitigation R is the R value after the initial mitigation strategies. You can also download the raw R_t time series from our projections folder (starting from May 15 projections). You can download our R_t estimates as csv files on our GitHub. We provide a longer explanation of how our model works here. The initial R 0 is the R value in early-to-mid March, right before states began implementing stay-at-home orders. While we present a single value for the purpose of this chart, our model actually uses a weighted range of R values to make its projections. The below reproduction number (R) estimates are what our model has learned for each state/country. June 6 Update: You can now view a map of our current R_t estimates on our Maps page. To make these estimates, we use Harvard Global Health Institute’s study that recommends 10 contacts per infected individual. Testing TargetsĬlick here to see our testing targets per day for the US and all 50 states, globally, and select US counties + subregions. Our model tries to do what no other model currently does (to the best of our knowledge): provide an estimate for the R values and the true number of infected individuals in every region. Please visit the home page for the infections updates for the US through March 2021.
